Turning a page on the calendar always feels like a sigh of relief, a new start, a do-over. After the crazy month that was September, I’m ready for the new routines that start in October:
- The change in weather brings a change in the kids’ after school schedule.
- The last three months of the year bring a change of focus in my shop.
- The plumbing issues and new roof are creating a time of freshening up and renewal within our home.
I started 2012 with a word in mind: DELIBERATE. In the past few months, I still had choices to make everyday. Unfortunately, those decisions weren’t always well thought out, but instead reactions to the busyness of school starting, the craziness of home repairs, and just life in general. I haven’t made many well-intentioned, deliberate decisions lately.
So, today, October 1st, I’m choosing to be deliberate. Again. My goal for the month is to make 1 deliberate choice a day. Just 1 simple choice. I can do that, right?
Day 1: I choose to be deliberate!
Day 14: I choose to commit more of God’s Word to memory.
Day 15: I choose to finish a project.
Day 16: I choose to teach my kids a new chore.
Day 17: I choose to be hospitable.
Day 18: I choose to say no.
Day 19: I choose to be an encourager.
Day 20: I choose to have a positive attitude.
Day 21: I choose to be proactive about my health.
Day 22: I choose to say yes.
Day 23: I choose to create something new.
Day 24: I choose to plan ahead (for business).
Day 25: I choose to treasure every moment.
Day 26: I choose to be a note writer.

Day 28: I choose to breathe.
Day 29: I choose to focus on my home.
Day 30: I choose to turn off the noise.
Day 31: I choose to share love with another.
